Elegy for Empathy.
As I grow older,
I cultivate my connection to myself—
and to my humble position on this planet.
It saddens me to cross paths
with those who worship triviality—
counting cents instead of blessings,
measuring worth in currencies
that cannot buy meaning.
Ego—
that ancient illness—
still infects the masses.
Convincing the privileged they are chosen,
the suffering that they are forgotten.
But we are none of these things.
We are the same breath wearing different bodies.
We are atoms arranged into temporary identity.
We are not meant to rank ourselves against one another.
We are meant to recognize ourselves in each other.
So I vow—
to defend the voiceless,
to stand beside the silenced,
to refuse division disguised as order.
Because there is no weapon more powerful than solidarity.
And there is no failure greater than forgetting
we belong to each other.
