After the Apology.
You said sorry like it was currency, like if you spent enough of it the damage would convert itself into forgiveness.
But apologies without change are just rehearsals for repetition.
I learned this watching you become predictable; the same mistake in different clothing.
The same harm with better wording.
The same cycle disguised as growth.
I wanted to believe you.
I wanted to be the kind of person who sees the best in people even when they hand you the worst of themselves.
BUT belief is not obligation...and forgiveness is not access.
So I stopped responding to your regret and started paying attention
to your behaviour.
And suddenly—
everything
made
sense.
Because real remorse doesn’t need to be announced; it shows up as something that never happens again.
